Have you found yourself struggling to maintain healthy habits? With the new year coming around, this is a great opportunity to come up with habits to help you live a healthy and productive lifestyle.
With these 6 easy tips, and you’ll be on your way to building healthy habits for the new year!
6 Tips To Building Healthy Habits For New Year!
1. Just Start
I can’t be the only one who says “Well.. I’ll just start on Monday!” and Monday comes around and then you say, you’ll wait until next Monday?
All it takes is to start! What better time to start is the New Year?
2. Pick a Habit that you are comfortable with.
Picking a habit that you are comfortable with and are able to fit into your daily life, will make it easier for you to grasp. For example, you want to start meal planning during the week, and you can start meal prepping 3 days a week or even 5 days a week.
If you find that you are hardly home or never have time to cook. Then maybe try to pick another healthy habit that you can do. Instead of trying to meal plan, how about eating healthy?
Some habits you choose can be as simple as exercising 15 minutes a day, or working on a business idea you have!
3. Use A Habit Tracker
Using a habit tracker visually shows all the hard work that you have been doing. Sometimes when we perform the task we hardly see the results of what we’re doing until someone points it out.
Instead, having a habit tracker can help so much in noticing your progress even more.
4. Choose One Habit At a Time
Getting started, you want to work on one healthy habit at a time. The reason for that is you don’t want to put so much pressure on yourself. Meaning, some people can be perfectionists (like me) and try to work on so many habits at one time.
Suddenly by February, we’re on the floor crying because we have gotten nowhere. Choosing one habit at a time can allow you to work on the habit to see if it’s for you or not.
Maybe after a while, you’ll need to change a few things or implement a new strategy that you can follow. And that is okay!
Once you figure out how to implement the first habit in your daily lifestyle. Then you can move on and add on another habit to work on.
5. Reward Yourself!
One thing that helps me so much is after a certain amount of days (7 or 10 days), I reward myself with a treat. It motivates me to continue building habits for myself. The types of rewards you can offer yourself are; a cup of coffee, buying a shirt for yourself, or even eating your favorite junk food.
This is supposed to be a fun experience for yourself, never apply pressure on yourself to reach 10 days, 20 days, or even 30 days before giving yourself a reward. This could lead to burnout and giving up, which leads me to my next point…
6. Don’t Give Up!
There are going to be times when we delay our start time. Or an inconvenience situation happens, and you take this as a sign to stop. Well, I am here to tell you to DON’T GIVE UP!
We all have ups and downs. Remember that you can take a break, or like I said before tweaking things to your liking. Just because someone you know is on a 30-day streak does not mean you have to as well.
Everybody is different and runs on different timelines. Without realizing it you’re most likely ahead in some things than other people.
