Since becoming a mom 6 months ago (it feels like it was last month I had a baby boy!) I have gone through so many different items.
Some products have stuck around no matter what. These range from essentials to simple toys that entertain my little guy.
Here is a list of baby items I just can’t live without
Baby Items I Can’t Live Without!
1. Diaper Caddy
Going up and down the stairs was not fun when it came to diaper changing. So we created a diaper caddy where I was able to keep all of our diaper-changing essentials downstairs within reach.
Here are some of the items we have inside our caddy;
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Diaper Rash Cream
- Extra Onesie or Sleeper
- Socks
2. Fisher-Price Play Mat
I’m not sure if you’ve seen it all over social media but this mat is baby boy’s favourite thing to use. If I need to use the bathroom I can place him on the mat to play. Plus I can change the style of the play mat to fit his developmental needs.
3. Bouncer Chair
Without a bouncer chair, I would have a hard time showering, washing bottles, or even using the bathroom. A simple bouncer chair we bought at Toys R US for $35 has been a lifesaver.
It vibrates, plays music, and has a toy bar for baby to play with. However, the baby boy doesn’t care for all the gimmicks.
4. Dr. Brown’s Sterilizer & Dryer
If your baby is majority using bottles. You know how annoying it can be to wait for bottles to dry. Getting the Dr. Browns Sterilizer & Dryer was one thing I used 1-2 times a day!
It’s great for sterilizing bottles, pacifiers, and other baby items. Plus it dries baby bottles in less than an hour!
5. Grownsy Bottle Warmer
I wanted a bottle warmer that worked beyond just bottles and the Grownsy bottle warmer is just that. You can use this bottle warmer to warm bottles, milk pouches, and baby food.
The bottle warmer only takes about three minutes to heat milk. Great for late-night feedings and if you’re rushing to get a bottle in time for baby.
6. Tommy Tippee Portable Bottle Warmer
Since the baby boy is formula-fed and I prepare his milk for the night I need something to warm up his bottles with. Due to safety, I don’t like using the bottle warmer in our bedroom, however, the Tommy Tippee Portable Bottle Warmer is the next best thing.
It comes with a thermos and a cylinder container to place bottles inside. I can fill the thermos with hot water at 8 p.m., and the water will still be warm at 8 a.m.
7. Graco Playpen Set
I wanted to find a playpen that I could use right away and as he continues to grow. The Graco playpen comes with a portable bassinet where we can baby boy in. Changing station and then transforming into a playpen.
8. Camilla’s Teething Drops
I noticed the baby boy started teething as soon as he turned 2 months old. I didn’t want him using Oragel right away however I didn’t want to see him in pain.
Camilla teething drops were something I was recommended and I would recommend this to all new moms!
Another Camilla product I highly suggest as well is their colic drops. Helped our baby when he was struggling with gas at 6-8 weeks.
9. Nose Cleaner
Babies are not capable as yet of blowing snot out of their noses. A nose cleaner with saline drops has helped us get the snot out of baby boy’s nose.
We used the Hydrasense nose cleaner from 0-6 months, and currently, we use the Nose Frida cleaner.
10. Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment
Allergies and eczema run very strong on both my and my husband’s side of the family. Unfortunately, we started to notice eczema spots on the baby boy.
The doctor gave us some ointment but when he has flare-ups it sometimes doesn’t work. I panic-bought Aqaphor Baby Healing Ointment and it’s been working wonders on him.
11. Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher
Prepping milk has saved me tons of time throughout my day. Way easier than shaking a bottle together. I follow the guidelines on the formula and prepare milk that way. Batching bottles of milk, it saves me a lot of time instead of making a bottle each time he’s hungry.
12. Mini fridge
Not a baby product, but something I wish I bought at the beginning when I had a baby boy. A mini fridge! Having a mini fridge in our room saved us so much time going up and down the stairs.
You can keep prepared formula inside, breast milk you pump at night, or any drinks you need. I also keep a couple of baby teethers so that it’s away from our main fridge downstairs.
13. Muslin Burp Cloths
Baby boy loves these muslin burp cloths. He loves to carry one around with him. He doesn’t fight us when it comes time to wipe his face and helps to absorb spit up.
14. Foldable Basin
I know I needed something separate to place dirty bottles and to wash them as well. I saw on TikTok a mom using a foldable basin to wash her baby’s bottles. Since then it has been a lifesaver with space and keeping dirty bottles out of the way.
15. Laundry Stain Remover
One of my favorite products I purchased as a mom. The Attitude laundry stain remover works wonders on my baby’s clothes and my clothes.
It removes spit-up stains, poopy blowout stains, or any food stains. I have used this stain remover on clothes and our carpets, furniture, and other places.
Overall…
There are so many products you will be using as a first-time parent however these baby items I know I can’t live without!
