What Should I Do Before I Start Spring Cleaning My Apartment?
1) Divide up Your Apartment Into Sections.
List all the rooms you have in your apartment. It could be the kitchen, living room, bedroom, storage, etc. You’ll avoid feeling overwhelmed about having to deep clean the house.
You can divide up each section into days. So the kitchen can be clean on Monday, and the bedroom could be clean on Wednesday, and so on.
Want to do to your spring cleaning all in one day? Section your areas by hours. Estimate how long each room will take.
Then begin working on the room that will take you the fastest all the way to the room that will take you the longest.
2) Go To Each Section and Write a List of Things You Want to Clean/Declutter.
For example the kitchen, On your list, you may have; clean out the cupboards, take out old containers, clean the inside fridge/freezer, clean the oven, organize underneath the sink.
Creating a list for each section of your apartment helps you to focus on the main task at hand.
I tend to start cleaning the bathroom and then all of a sudden I’m organizing my closet. Suddenly, it’s taking me hours to get all my cleaning done.
Even if you write the list on your phone or a piece of paper. You’ll feel less overwhelmed and more laser-focused on the area you’re cleaning.

3) Buy The Supplies You’ll Need to Clean Your Apartment With
Check the cleaning supplies you have. Do you have the right supplies you need to spring clean with?
Is any product running low? It would suck to start cleaning then most of your cleaning supplies are running out.
4) Declutter Things You Do Not Need
Decluttering is one of my favorite things to do. If you don’t use it anymore, let it go! (Marie Kondo would be so proud!)
To start, lay out three boxes, 1) For donations 2) to keep 3) to throw away. Anything you haven’t used within a year that is in mint condition you can donate.
Anything that looks like it has holes, dirt, and has been overused a lot; throw it away.
Some exceptions to the three-box system are clothes you haven’t had the chance to wear or seasonal items.
5) Organize Your Apartment As Much as Possible!
I love love love to organize! You will always find me down the organization aisle at stores or buying them off Amazon.

6) Put Away Seasonal Items
To get more space you need to make more space. For the past four years, I have been putting away my seasonal items such as; clothes, decorations, dishes, etc.
You will notice a large amount of space in your place when you put seasonal items into storage.
I do this with my clothes, I switch out my winter and summer clothes each year.
This gives me a chance to see what I need for the upcoming season and what I want to throw away/donate.
