Wondering if you are ready for your wedding day? Not sure what you need to have your big day go accordingly? Here are 10 tips on how to prepare for your wedding day!
This blog post is about sharing tips and advice on how to prepare for your wedding day!
How To Prepare Yourself For Your Wedding Day!
Congratulations! You have been planning this day for a long time and now the time is almost near.
Now you must be wondering, “Well… how do I prepare for the day of my wedding?”
As a 2022 bride and a person who just loves to always be prepared, I am always finding out new things that should be with you on the day of the wedding, what you need to prepare, how to prepare your things, etc.
No need to panic, here are __ ways on how to prepare for your wedding day;
1. Create a List
Create a list of all the things you will need for yourself on the day of the wedding. I mean include EVERYTHING!
This includes; your dress, veil, shoes, perfume, bows, tip envelopes. And to whatever your liking.
I suggest creating this list a few weeks before your wedding so you can add things along the way!
2. Create Day of Wedding Checklist
Every bride is super nervous prior to their wedding day. You may forget a few things or possibly a few steps you have to do on the day of the wedding.
Creating a day of wedding checklist is perfect for your bridesmaids, mom, and other people in your room to keep you on track
3. Get Your Marriage Lisence
One of the most important things you will need on your wedding day.
This task has to be done prior to your wedding. In Canada, you are able to get your marriage license within 90 days of your wedding date.
I highly suggest going at least 8-4 weeks prior to your wedding date.
4. Share Day Of Timeline With Vendors, Bridal Party, Coordinator
A day of timeline will help not only help run your day smoothly but will let everyone know where each person will be.
Start creating your day-of timeline 6 months prior to your wedding. Yes, this can always be changed and corrected.
It is way better to start early rather than the night before.
Another tip I want to give out is; make sure every single vendor has one! Especially your wedding planner.
If you don’t have a wedding planner, put someone in charge of coordinating everyone.
5. Put Your Photo Details In a Box
Are you wanting detailed photos for your wedding? Place everything you want to be included in your photo, inside a box.
Rather than running around on the day of the wedding looking for those items. Place them inside a box and keep the box in an open space where everybody can see it.
Your photographer will be happy and this saves you so much time on the day of the wedding.
6. Create a Photo List
Have you noticed whenever you try to take photos with the family it becomes a very big hassle to do?
Well just imagine doing this at your wedding with a time limit. (Can you feel your stress levels rising?)
Here is one thing you can do that can save you a huge headache; create a photo list!
Create a list of photos you want. For example, you can list;
- bride and groom
- Bride and bride family
- Bride and bridesmaids
- Groom and brother
And the list goes on.
You can create your list however you like! This photo list should go to the following; Your planner/person in charge, photographer, maid of honor, and best man.
PRO TIP: When writing out your list, make sure to add everybody’s name. Here’s an example;
- Bride (Name) and Groom (Name)
- Bride (Name) and Family (Name, Name, Name, Name)
Also listing everyone’s names helps;
A) the photographer and rounding the family up.
B) The MC. who is looking for a family member to take photos
C) yourself, so you don’t have to keep shouting peoples names
D) your coordinator. Helps them know who they are looking for.
7. Prepare Your Thank You Speeches
We get so caught up in preparing and writing our wedding vows that we tend to forget our wedding speeches.
One thing that can help your prepare for your wedding day is to have thanked you speeches typed, practice,d and ready to go.
My fiancée and I have started way in advance writing our vows and thank you speeches for our family.
This is one thing you totally want out of the way 4 weeks or even 4 days before your wedding.
8. First Dance? Practice!
The thing everybody gets super excited about is the bride and groom’s first dance.
But not a lot of couples practice and you will hear a lot of newlyweds say, “I wish we practice our first dance.”
Which is something that you can prepare for! Take a couple of hours each week leading up to your big day and practice a few dance moves.
There are so many dance lessons on YouTube or even ones you can buy for less than a dance class. I have also linked a youtube channel that is all about wedding dances.
Remember this is your first dance as bride and groom, it doesn’t have to be too serious. Just remember to have fun and make some memories.
9. Set Up a Skin and Hair Routine
To prepare for your wedding day, Starting a skincare routine and a hair routine will help so much with your skin being cleared on your big day.
I would start this 8 – 6 months prior to your wedding day. Come up with a skincare routine and a hair routine that will stick!
This will honestly help with your photos and how you look on your big day.
Plus starting a skincare routine 1 month or even less can result in your skin purging/breaking out.
And we don’t want that at all for our wedding day.
10. Remember To Enjoy The Moment
Throughout all this planning and preparing for your wedding day, you’ll both get so caught up with the stress of it. That you will forget to enjoy the present.
These are your last few days or weeks of being engaged and this will only be your last time engaged to each other.
So make sure you laugh during those wedding planning moments, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy this time together.
Because when you look back, you’re going to wish that you weren’t so stressed.
This post was all about how to prepare for your wedding day.
