During the lockdown, I have struggled not to see my boyfriend. I missed dressing up and going out on dates. We went from seeing each other every other week to going over 4 months without seeing each other in person.
I felt like I was back in middle school and all you did was text your crush all the time.
Now that places are opening open, you’re probably thinking, “How will dating go during a pandemic?”
We still want to protect ourselves and follow the safety protocols. Here are 5 date ideas that super fun and can keep you safe at the same time!
Drive-in Theatres/Movie Date
By far one of the safest date ideas you and your partner can go to. If one of you have a car, go to a drive-in! You don’t have to go into a closed-in movie theatre where you are near a bunch of other people, instead, you’ll be in a safe space with you and your partner.
If you don’t feel like going to the drive-in you can always stay home and watch a movie together.
A Road Trip Date
It can be a half-day, full-day, or even a weekend road trip! You can research great places to take a trip to on your road trip (That is currently open).
This is great for couples that love to travel but are not able to due to the restrictions of traveling abroad.
TIP: If you are booking a hotel, make sure to do your research on the hotel and how they are keeping the rooms clean.
Hiking Together
Depending on the location where you want to hike, you will need to protect yourself with a mask and possibly gloves. This is a great date idea for couples who are adventurous and love the outdoors. going on a hike you’re able to bond and just have a nice conversation with your partner because it’s just the two of you.
If you’re going on a popular hike trail, remember to keep yourselves at a safe distance from others (At least 6ft apart!)
Cooking Together
If you’re like me and love to go to restaurants with your partner, you may be feeling a little down with restaurants being restricted to only takeout/delivery.
Although this time is a great opportunity to show off your skills or even learning how to cook with your partner!
You can always find quick 30 minute recipes online or even on Pinterest.
Video Call Date
My boyfriend and I don’t live very close to each other so we pretty much rely on video calls and trying to have date nights via Facetime.
Video calls may not be the same as in-person but you can always spice it up. Such as using the Netflix Party app on your laptops and you can both video chat with each other while watching a movie together.
Or you can dress up, make a meal, then chit chat and eat. Just like being in a restaurant.
As more places are opening up, remember to keep yourselves safe, and Thank you so much for reading!
